 Ocean Paradise Ocean Paradise Hotel

Leigh Herringer and family went to Zanzibar where they stayed at my favorite hotel - the Ocean Paradise.

HI Lise I can’t believe we are back!! It was wonderful - had the most relaxing time and Ocean Paradise is 1000 times better than Blue Bay - we went and had a look at it and really were not mad about Blue Bay at all. We also managed to change our rooms at Ocean on the second day so we had much better ones down by the beach. We really had a good time at the hotel and went snorkeling at Mnemba - My husband did a day’s deep sea fishing too, which he loved although he wasn’t a lucky fisherman. Food was good too as you said, and I def think this is the nicest hotel we saw by a long shot.

One thing we didn’t know was that there was 25 dollars departure tax each - did you know that? It’s good info to know.

Anyway I’m sure my mum will email you as well but thanks for organising everything for us so efficiently and for getting us into the hotel- we had such a divine and special time and I can’t believe how fast it all went. At least we have great tans and now are off to the gym to work off all that food!

Many thanks

Tinga Narina Lodge  Tinga Legends Lodge

Guest stayed at Tinga Lodge which is inside the Kruger National Park proper - perfect for a romantic pampering safari.

We were fortunate enough to stay for 4 days in June 2006 at Tinga Narina Lodge on the Sabie River and I can just say: this was more than heaven on earth!

Being so close to nature, luxury, exclusiveness, pampering, wonderful cuisine and weather couldn’t be more fantastic! It’s hard to explain in words how you feel in those romantic, extremely spacious and comfortable suites with perfect service and all those lovely staff. We were interrupted during almost every meal: breakfast was interrupted by 4 lionesses on the river bank; lunch by a rhino and elephant, and dinner by the sounds of hippo’s. Game drives had been overwhelming (although terribly cold after sunset and in the early morning) and really worth every cent!

Never in my life I’ll forget this amazing experience! I hope, we will see you all again some day!

Nottens Bush Camp Victoria Falls

Judy Stewart brought her family to South Africa for some fun and action with a luxury angle:

Hi Vanessa!  We can’t thank you enough for your help as the trip was beyond perfection. Everyday was exciting and we certainly had the best tour guides that one could have!  I’ll give you the highlights since we had breakfast with you at our very favorite B and B, the Bishops Court:

Kirstenbosch gardens is glorious and the sculpture a must see, lunch there was poor

-Fancourt was the only letdown. It is poorly maintained, severely over priced and completely overrated on every level, including the golf. Would not recommend to anyone. -Loved the drive around the Plettenberg Bay and Knyser harbors.

-Enjoyed touring Pt. Elizabeth and could have spent more time there -Soweto with Kenny as a guide is a very special experience and a highlight of the trip

-the boys did Cradle of Mankind which they enjoyed but may not be for everyone -2 art galleries were excellent and world class: Evard Reed (contemporary) and Kim Zach (African)

-Constitutional Court area is a must- brilliantly and sensitively done, very artistic -Saxon Hotel is rated the best B & B in the world and it is! A must for all to experience and to have a drink.

-Nottens Camp-  We loved the whole scene. The managers were terrific, we saw tons of animals and the guides were real pros. The lack of electricity was almost part of the experience. But, the food is too mundane and could, with direction, be easily upgraded in content and presentation

-Victoria Falls-  The Royal Livingstone held up to its reputation and had impeccable service. We adored the “colonial” experience!

The Bottom Line: South Africa is the most gorgeous country that we have ever visited. This was absolutely the trip of a life time! It was a delightful mix of glorious scenery, history, art, great food along with the Falls and the wild game experiences.  P.S. Let me know if you need further explanation on any of our observations.  Hugs to you!

Family safari feedback for Khoka Moya and Zambezi Sun

Khoka Moya Camp Zambezi Sun

Dear Liesl Thanks for your message.  And a very big thank you to you and Gaynor for arranging it all- we had a brilliant time!  The game reserve at Khoka Moya was fantastic.  We loved staying in the tents, and the safari experience with our own driver and tracker was great.  All three children really loved it, and we had no criticisms at all re. our stay.

We also had a good time in Zambia, although it was hard to beat the experience of the previous few days.  We were less pleased with the Zambezi Sun, whilst its location is unbeatable, it felt like a rather big tourist trap, and I think we might have preferred staying somewhere smaller and a bit more authentic, if there was such a place.  Mind you, having zebras wandering in the grounds proved a welcome attraction.

It was unfortunate that they were renovating the pool whilst we were there, and the smell of chemicals in the restaurant was a bit unpleasant.  But otherwise, given our limited time there, it served its purpose very well.  So all in all we had a great time, and would love to go on safari again, so do keep us on your mailing list as we would definitely be back in contact.

With best wishes  cathy mccabeÂ
